As a rule, dogs will become aggressive out of one of two mindsets.
It is either due to frustration or dominance.
Frustration induced aggression is tied to lack of physical exertion. Lack of exercise.
The dominance induced aggression will come from lack of proper, calm and assertive leadership.
When dealing with these aggressive dogs the work really begins with the owners of the dog. In most cases the owner needs to learn how to assert them selves as a leader. This is a part in dog rehabilitation that we can’t do anything without. It is elemental. You must learn to lead and you can’t go back to old ways. If you do, so will your dog.
For a very large number of these dogs the lack of physical exertion is the core of the problem. Dogs need physical activity. They need exercise. When they are not exercised they get their energy built up and they can’t stay in the healthy state of mind. Physical activity burns this energy and allows for maintaining of the stable mind.
This is true for humans just as much as it is for dogs. Unlike humans however who can rationalize and compensate for one behavior with others, dogs don’t have that luxury. They are dogs.
To properly communicate with the dog you need to move the excess energy out of the way. Then, their mind will listen.
It is really important if you live with an aggressive dog, that you get help of a professional dog trainer that can devote time to you and your dog, Most aggressive dog cases can be rehabilitated with time and dedication and you owe it to your dog to work on it.
